How to Post an Introduction

We ask all new members to post an introduction with a bit about your background.

You don't have to do this on the same day you sign up - we'd rather you take whatever time you need to think it through first - but please introduce yourself here before commenting in any discussions so other members can get to know you. If you're unsure about what to include, read on.

Things to remember:

Please give your post an informative title (subject) instead of just "hi" or "hello." Example: "Devotee of [deity names] living in [place]". It's also a good idea to put your location in the title/subject, so others who might be located near you can easily find your intro. Keep in mind that our mission here is to support the development of sustainable religious infrastructure for polytheist monastics. Religious infrastructure happens when people network and get together in person to make it happen.

Please answer the following three questions in your intro (required):

1) How did you become interested in polytheist monasticism?
2) Where are you located? (a broad general area is fine)
3) How did you find this forum?

Other things you may want to include (not required):

* age (a range is fine)
* a description of your religious practice, spiritual interests, involvement with polytheism & animism, etc.
* formal and/or informal educational background
* how you spend your work & leisure time
* your interests or involvements with deities, spirits, beings, and/or powers
* religious group affiliations, if any
* your familiarity with monasticism in other religious contexts
* your favorite books, blogs, etc.

These are just suggestions. Feel free to write about things that aren't on this list!

If you have specific questions related to monasticism, we ask that you post them on the appropriate subject board. We reserve this board just for personal introductions.

Keep in mind that everything you post here is publicly visible and indexed by search engines. Avoid posting information you wish to keep private.
